Atalasoft Releases DotAnnotate, a Document Markup and Annotation Toolkit for the Microsoft .NET Framework

Northampton, MA – August 5th, 2004– Atalasoft Inc., a leading provider of Microsoft .NET Framework and ActiveX imaging components for developers, today announced that the release of Atalasoft DotAnnotate, a 100% Managed .NET Windows Form component adding powerful annotation capabilities used to markup, and draw objects onto an image or document. Atalasoft DotAnnotate can be used as a standalone component or integrated with Atalasoft DotImage™, the imaging component toolkit built from the ground up with Microsoft Visual C# .NET and the .NET Framework.
Atalasoft DotAnnotate adds powerful annotation capabilities used to markup, and draw objects onto an image or document. These objects include primitive shapes, text, freehand, sticky notes, redactions, images and hot spots with an extensible interface to add custom annotations. Once placed, annotations can be independently resized, moved, and included on different layers or groups. Atalasoft annotations can be persisted to a file using the standard WANG format or a format based on Adobe's XMP standard.

DotAnnotate has many uses in both document and photographic imaging. DotAnnotate gives applications the ability to highlight areas of a document, add text notes, protect areas of the document using redactions, along with many other useful objects for document markup. By publishing Atalasoft’s annotation XMP schema, other application providers will be able to read these annotations without the Atalasoft toolkit. Adobe’s XMP format also allows this data to be stored in many different image formats including the popular Adobe PDF which DotImage can create. DotAnnotate can also be used to create a sophisticated layer based imaging application. It uses the benefits of GDI+ rendering for full alpha transparency support of annotations and layered images.
