 I am testing the atalasoft libraries right now and am quite impressed by the auto-crop function. But in some cases the result is not as desired and I am thinking of a 3-step process instead of the fully automatic auto-crop:

1. make "image enhancements" to improve the ability to automatically detect unecessary parts
2. let the autoCrop mechanism detect all margins that can be removed. But the margins are not removed - only the detected coordinates will be used later
   
3. use the coordinates gained from step 2 and use them to extract the original image

Is there a "easy" way to accomplish this without "re-inventing" the detection algorithm of the auto-crop function.

The actual task is post-production of scans of magazines and newspapers and each newspaper can be different so it is necessary to make a few changes to the image before the white margins sourrounding the scans can be removed.
