    Problem Selecting Scanner

Hi I have Canon DR-2580C. It is TWAIN/ISIS compatible.  I am trying to query the devices but nothing shows up in the device box.  I tried using VB sample project that came along evaluation copy.  It also does the same thing.

    Any idea why??

    RE: Problem Selecting Scanner

If you show the Select Source dialog and it doesn't contain the scanner, then you don't have the Twain driver installed.

Usually you have to pick either TWAIN or ISIS when installing the driver. With some Canon scanners that I've tested I had to manually dig into the CD to find the TWAIN driver installation.

    RE: Problem Selecting Scanner

I can see the scanner using Microsoft Office Document Scanning Software. It display the device box that shows Canon DR-2580 TWAIN Scanner but not using your application...

    RE: Problem Selecting Scanner

If it does not show the device in the select source dialog (from our demo), then it doesn't have a TWAIN driver installed. Office Document Imaging is compatible with drivers other than just TWAIN.

    RE: Problem Selecting Scanner

If you display the TWAIN select source dialog, does it show your scanner driver? You can display it using our demo.

The dialog you provided is one created by Office. The dialog from our demo is created by TWAIN. If the driver doesn't show in the dialog created by TWAIN, then DotTwain won't see it either.

Also, please specifiy which version of DotTwain you are using. If you just started evaluating you will want to use the DotTwain 2.0 beta.

    RE: Problem Selecting Scanner

Have you tried reinstalling the TWAIN drivers?

We have no control over what is displayed in the select source dialog, so it's either an issue with your drivers or TWAIN itself.

    RE: Problem Selecting Scanner

I have updated the scanner drivers which is ISIS/TWAIN compatible. Is there any seperate TWAIN component that I need to update?

    RE: Problem Selecting Scanner

Installing the TWAIN driver should be all you need. We've tested the Canon DR-2580C, so I know our component works with it.

Make sure you only have one copy of twain_32.dll on your system. It should be in the Windows directory.

Also try using another program that displays the TWAIN select source dialog. I believe IrfanView does this. If your driver shows in there but not when our demo displays the dialog, something very strange is going on.

If anyone else reading this post has had this problem, please let us know.

    RE: Problem Selecting Scanner

I checked TWAIN_32.DLL on my computer but did not find anything. I did find TWAIN_32.DL_ in I386 folder which has windows installation files. Is it normal...

    RE: Problem Selecting Scanner

There has to be a twain_32.dll in your Windows folder for Twain to function. If you are running Windows XP, create a restore point then use "sfc /scannow" in the Run dialog to see if that will repair it. If not, contact Microsoft to find out how to restore Twain.

    RE: Problem Selecting Scanner

I installed the application on a different computer and it seems to be working...I guess the problem is with my twain_32.dll.
