ThumbnailView Not Displaying All Thumbnails

Hello!

I have a question. I have a scanning app that loads an aquired image to a ThumbnailView control. Once the MaxWorkerThreads has been reached, the thumbnails following say "Loading..." and the only way the TthumbnailView gets refreshed is if there is an "out of paper" or some other TWAIN/VRS error. It used to work with Applicaion.DoEvents() coded in, but I want to avoid doing that. Me.Refresh and Thread.Sleep(30) don't seem to be doing it - what am I doing wrong?

WorkspaceViewer ClientSize

We are using DotImage 7 in Visual Studio 2008.

Our program presents a list of documents in a tree view. Clicking on any of the items in the tree view loads the image into a WorkspaceViewer.

The first time the user clicks on a tree view node the WorkspaceViewer reports a ClientSize of 760x635. On any subsequent clicks, on any tree view node, the WorkspaceViewer reports a ClientSize of 777x652. It does not matter what tree view node the user selects, the first image loaded is always 760x635. Moving on to any other node, even coming back to the first node, the image is always 777x652.

The change in ClientSize makes for a visible jump in image size. Has anyone else found this? Does anyone have a solution?

Licensing error reached upon deployment

I am using the following DotImage 8.0 components in a Windows based desktop application:

WinControls, PDF, PDF Rasterizer, OCR, and OCR.Tesseract.

I created a setup program and installed it on a sandbox system without a problem. However when I went to install it on a production system, I got the following error:

"The license files are not valid and are not compatible with this machine ID. purchase or retrieve another licences."

What could be the cause of this?

Out of memory error with WorkspaceViewer in VB6

I have created a simple .NET user control using the Microsoft Interop Forms Toolkit so that I can embed a simple image document viewer into my old VB6 application. I have built in some simple zoom and rotate features and compiled the .NET assembly. I have created two deployment packages, one with VB6 Package and Deployment Wizard and the other a ClickOnce application using the reg-free COM approach to installing a .NET assembly. While this document viewer loads and performs just fine in the VB6 environment, when I deploy this EXE with the embedded viewer onto a client workstation, I consistently get an '7 - Out of memory' error. I have read various posts online about this number 7 - Out of memory error, and it sounds like it occurs when there are too many controls on a VB6 form, but when I built a test app with only this one WorkspaceViewer on a .NET user control embedded in a VB6 form with no other code, I still get this error.

Also, this error occurs long before any image document is loaded into the WorkspaceViewer. It happens as soon as the VB6 form containing the control is loaded. Until I get the opportunity to modernize my app this year, this VB6 app needs to work just a little longer!

Has anyone observed this behavior and if so, what is the solution?

Windows 7 Error

I just got a new development machine with Windows 7 64 bit. I just installed DotImage 3.0 (I know very legacy but it's what we've got!) and I'm getting an error when I try to build applications with the atalasoft dll's, even the demo apps.
Everytime I try to debug a popup displays that says ".NET Framework license compiler has stopped working", this popup disappears and the error message in the Error List says:

"Error 1 Exception occurred creating type 'Atalasoft.Imaging.WinControls.WorkspaceViewer, Atalasoft.dotImage.WinControls, Version=3.0.2312.18597, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=2b02b46f7326f73b' System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'Atalasoft.Imaging.Workspace' threw an exception. ---> System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'Atalasoft.Imaging.AtalaImage' threw an exception. ---> System.BadImageFormatException: is not a valid Win32 application. Here's a screenshot I took, I don't usually get that 2nd error so you can ignore it, the 1st one is what I get everytime I try to build any project.

Dot Image - 64 Bit

Hi All,

In our Web application, we are using dotimage4.0 and 6.0 for 32 bit and 64 bit respectively.
Currently we are looking for a single version of dotimage which should support both 32 and 64bit platform. We assume that Dot Image 6 & 7 versions does not support both 32 and 64 bit. whereas version 8 would support both platform. Is that so?

Can you advice us to purchase the appropriate version (7.0 or 8.0)?

Dot Image Viewer Zoom Issue

I have an Image Viewer control on a page that has the left mouse button mapped to zoom in and the right mouse button mapped to zoom out. The zooming works on some machines, but not all? Any suggestions on why this would be happening?

Need documentation/help for method AutoLinkUpdateThumb()??

Changing PdfCompressionType and PDFEncoder.JpegQuality not reducing output PDF size

Hi,

I'm looping through a TiffFile containing 16-Level gray images (200dpi) and adding these into a PdfImageCollection. When adding these as new PdfImages I have tried specifying the PdfCompressionType as all of the relevant options available e.g. Auto, None, Jpeg etc but this has not impact on the PDF file size produced. Additionally I have set the PDFEncoder JpegQuality setting from 1 - 100 without the output file size changing.

Saving Multi-Page PDF from DocumentViewer

Hopefully an easy question this..

I have a Windows Forms DocumentViewer control which I have populated with a number of images. When I call the Save method and pass it a TiffEncoder it creates a multipage Tiff, however if I pass it a PDFEncoder I only get the last image in the control in a PDF.

How can I create a PDF containing all the images in the DocumentViewer instead of just the last item?

I have seen the PDFEncoder class has its own save that can take an ImageSource as well as a single image but can't see any way to get the underlying ImageSource for the DocumentViewer. That said I would still prefer to use the DocumentViewer.Save method if possible.

Does the current version of Atalasoft support the creation of PDF 1.6? I have seen the documentation on version 1.4 and 1.5, but nothing on 1.6.

Run my app in a machine that does not have DotImage installed???

Convert RGB tiff to CMYK

I need to convert RGB tiff files to CMYK tiff files.

I'm able to do this using:

Atalasoft.Imaging.AtalaImage img = new Atalasoft.Imaging.AtalaImage(filename);

img = img.GetChangedPixelFormat(Atalasoft.Imaging.PixelFormat.Pixel32bppCmyk);

// img.ColorProfile = new Atalasoft.Imaging.ColorManagement.ColorProfile(iccFilePath);

img.Save(filename, Atalasoft.Imaging.Codec.ImageType.Tiff, null);

But the resulting Tiff file looks different then input (all colors have "washed" effect).

I tried using ICC profile, and I get the same results.

When I use photoshop to do the conversion, the output CYMK looks identical to input RGB using default icc from photoshop or my icc file.

Am I doing something wrong?

I'm very new to scanning images so hopefully my question is not to naive. We have several customers who did not understand how changing the DPI and scanning mode (black/white, grayscale, etc) affects image size. After only a couple of months, they've run themselves out of server space.

We need to write them a quick utility application that can go back and changed their saved images to something more simpler. Since these are primarily documents, we figure black & white at 200/300 DPI would work, but we'll make that customizable too.

Browsing the forums, I did see some posts in regards to how grayscale images can be converted back to black & white. What I didn't find were any posts that said something to the effect of changing a 600 DPI image into a 300 DPI image. Is this possible to do?

Edit: Someone here just prompted me with another question too that I don't know the answer. They don't want to have all images converted, just specific ones. For example, convert all grayscale 500dpi images to black/white 300 dpi. Is it possible to detect what an image is currently to so that it can be determined whether to convert it or not? Gamma error in ResampleCommand e.g. Lanczos

We came across this post (http://www.4p8.com/eric.brasseur/gamma.html#examples), which shows demonstrates pretty convincingly poor gamma treatment in many applications (including Photoshop CS4).

Can you comment on the article and/or confirm whether e.g. LanczosResample incorporates the non-linear gamma treatment specified? If it does not, might there be a patch for it in the near future?

We'd basically like to replace all our Atalasoft ResampleCommands (and of course Graphics.DrawImage(), etc.) with the corrected version.

Photo Pro support for 48 bit images?

OCR on PDF Failing

We have a block of code that's been in our app for eons, this is the crux of it:

So any Image files that are imported in to our system pass through this code, and a searchable PDF is spat out the other side.

When someone tries to import a PDF into the system, we check to see if it contains any text, if it doesn't, we pass it to this same block of code to convert it into a searchable PDF. This used to work, but doesn't any more. We've just jumped from 6.0d to 8.0c, but looking at our bug database, I suspect that this bug had already appeared before we upgraded.

It the Translate method returns instantly now and outputs a zero byte PDF, which is locked by the process, so something's going wrong somewhere. Any suggestions?

Create fix sized annotation

Can any one tell me how to create fix sized annotation?

I have specified size of annotation while defining default annotation types, but its not working.

I have set CanResize property to false.

Or is there any way to set creation of annotation on single click of mouse, so that when I select annotation type(e.g. RubberStamp) and on click of left button of mouse, respective annotation of fixed size gets created.

Is this possible? If yes, how?

DocumentViewer MultiSelect

Hi,

i use a DocumentViewer and have enabled MultiSelect for the ThumbNailControl. The problem here is that the ImageViewer always displays the top most selected ThumbNail, but i need the currently selected thumbnail which has the user selected. For example:

User Selects in this order

ThumbNail[0] - ImageViewer Shows Image [0]
ThumbNail[1] - ImageViewer Shows Image [0]
ThumbNail[3] - ImageViewer Shows Image [0]

I need:

ThumbNail[0] - ImageViewer Shows Image [0]
ThumbNail[1] - ImageViewer Shows Image [1]
ThumbNail[3] - ImageViewer Shows Image [3]

How can i achive that!?

GlyphReader - Specified module could not be found.

I am receiving the following error when referencing the GlyphReader assembly from an ASP.NET Web Application project. I do NOT receive the error when referencing (and using) the assembly from a Windows Application. Fuslogvw shows no binding failures, and I have verified that the application pool has proper access to the unmanaged resources in the OCRResources\GlyphReader\v3.0 directory. Any advice on how to address this?

I'm using DotImage 7.0. I'm using WebAnnotationViewer to show images like JPEG/BMP etc.

Now I want to keep my viewer size fixed and I want to resize image as per viewer.

Can anyone help to solve this problem?
