ShowSelectSource throws exception on 64bit

ShowSelectSource throws System.ApplicationException without any details message on a 64bit server. I have compiled my program forx86 bit - so it should work on 64 bit machines.

I am also having trouble with getting the default device.

Application freezes after Acquire()

Hello,

Our scanning application (using DotTwain 8.0) works fine on most of our workstations running XP Pro.
However on some workstations the app freezes after the Acquire() method.
The CPU utilization goes up to 50% (on a dual core CPU) and does not respond anymore.
This problem arises with some of our Fujitsu fi-5120C scanners, but not on all of them.
We have the latest Twain drivers installed (9.21.720.0).
The workstations where the problems occur, work fine using the WIA interface.
The last part of the tracelog shows this:

Duplex and image aquired

I was wondering, if the scanner has Duplex turned on, is there a way to know in the ImageAcquired event, if the e.Image is from the back of the previous page or front of a page of the current.

Hi,

I am assisting a developer who is trying to compile an application which uses a libry referencing the Atalasof.DotTwain dll. His code does not use the Atalasoft dll but must include the library that is referncing it. Below is his note to me.

Error 1

Could not load file or assembly 'Atalasoft.DotTwain, Version=2.0.2288.19123, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=2b02b46f7326f73b' or one of its dependencies. Access is denied.

Something to add. I am not using it. I am using library (General.dll) that refers to it. And my project has reference to General.dll.

I tried to copy Atalasoft.DotTwain.dll, directly include reference to it into my project, I also used all possible combinations of versions of that library, it did not work.

Weird Issue with Scanner Interface

Has anyone run across this before?

I set device.HideInterface according to whether the associated toolbar button is depressed or not. When the button is not depressed, device.HideInterface is false and there is no issue.

However, when I click my Scan button while the Hide Interface button is depressed, a lot of the times I get this (see attached). Sometimes it's just there for a blip, sometimes it is there until the first image is acquired.

Any ideas?

DotTwain Freezes When VRS Freezes

Hello all,

I have an app that freezes when VRS stops responding for whatever reason - it started when I have HideInterface set to true, but now it is starting to freeze up even while HideInterface is set to false. Having a few Multifeeds or paper jams can set this off. Any reason why this might be happening? Is there a way I can capture messages sent from VRS or log any VRS errors from within DotTwain? Any way i can get DotTwain to kickstart VRS without having to exit the app?

HP Scanjet N6010 Problem

Hi,

I know there's problems with the TWAIN driver for this scanner since HP release v2.0 of its twain driver for it.

Any time a scan is performed it produces a StackOverflowException. This all happens when using a .NET 2.0 application with DotTwain v6.0

However, if I take the same application and use .NET 1.1 with the .NET 1.1 build of Atalasoft.DotTwain.dll (v6.0) the scanner will work fine with the TWAIN driver and no StackOverflowException occurs.

Why would it work with .net 1.1 and not with .net 2.0 even though the same code is used. Both applications use the supplied Atalasoft.DotTwain.dll's respectively, i.e the 1.1 build and the 2.0 build. Both are v6.0 of DotTwain.

If there any known workaround where some properties can be set on the TwainDevice from a .NET 2.0 application that will make this work? I saw an earlier post that suggested setting ShowDisplayIndicators = false but this had no affect. Doing some searches on the problem suggested a similar property in a competitors product seems to resolve the problem.

I've also tried v1.0 of the TWAIN driver for the N6010 that was suggested but the scanning speed is dramatically slower and is not a viable option.

Where can I go from here with regards to the issue? It does seem strange that it will work with DotTwain 6.0 (.net1.1) and not DotTwain 6.0 (.net.2.0).

Problems with a Kodak i1220 Scanner

Hello all - has anyone ever had this problem? This scanner would feed the pages through when I hit the "Scan" button in my app, but the acquisition events never get fired. Sometimes the scanner's wheels just keep turning, as if it's expecting something more. I hit "Cancel" on the scanner's interface, and it says it's canceling, but it doesn't really. I have to kill the process, which in turn freezes my app, and I have to kill that too. Scanner works fine with its own scanning software, as well as Office 2003 Doc Imaging tool. Any ideas?

DOTTwain Device problem

I have an instalation of DOTTwain that has been working great for several years. Recently, my client has tried to add a laptop to the list of computers using a business card scanner, and they are now recieving a Twain.Devices.Default is null or not an objext error. There is no difference in the code form the working machines and the licensing is the same for all as it all loaded from the server. Please advise.

Hello again, I am working with Bowe Bell and Howell NGenuity scanners mostly, and I was wondering... the scanners have "Scanner Maximum" as a page ize - how can I programmatically set that as a default, so they don't have to restore a saved profile to select it?

Hi,

I am using DotTwain 6, .NET 1.1 (not sure which release - how do you tell?) and have been for some time, with no problems.

However, one particular customer using Dell Optiplex dual-core machines running XP with a Panasonic KV-S1025C duplex colour scanner has been experiencing the following problem: After scanning between three and ten documents using auto-feed the scanner stops scanning, the processor usage hits 100% and the machine becomes totally unresponsive.

This problem is completely cured if I enable the dotTwain <diagnostics> on the client machine! Note that this is an identical scenario to this post: http://www.atalasoft.com/cs/forums/thread/11846.aspx.

Could you advise on what I can do to fix this please. Should I download and use the 6.0d release (again I'm not sure what release I am using as I don't know how you find this information)?

Canon slow others not

I'm noticing a big difference in speed between Canon scanners and other brands. Using their own software, the Canon scanner zooms. Using the demo, it's painfully slow. This seems to only happen with Canon scanners.
Is this a know issue? Is there any properties that can be set to solve this?

Inverted Image After VRS Upgrade

In an attempt to resolve earlier posted issue with blurred or smeared images, I upgraded my VRS from v4.1 to an evaluation copy of v4.5. Doing this now inverts the images acquired - even in the workspaceviewer and thumbnailfolderviewer controls. Any ideas why this happened?

Is there a way to auto detect paper size when scanning? Currently i am setting the FrameSize value to:

Device.FrameSize = StaticFrameSizeType.LetterUS

I was wonderin if the scanner could auto detect the paper size while scanning.

Blurred Smeared Images

Hi all... first post!

I am writing a TWAIN scanning app, and I noticed that when using VRS v4.1, I would get a random blurring or "smearing" of the page, such as seen in the attached example.

Anyone know why this would happen?

Hello,

We are evaluating your DotTwain toolkit for a scanning application.
We have almost one hundred Fujitsu scanners, mostly fi-5220C.
Our target platform is Windows XP, our development environment is Windows 2003 Server.
We just downloaded the latest Twain drivers from the Fujitsu website.
All works as expected, except that we can' t set the DeviceEvents, so the Acquisition.DeviceEvent is never triggered.
We try to set the DeviceEvent property like this:

_device.DeviceEvents = DeviceEventFlags.PaperJam | DeviceEventFlags.PaperDoubleFeed;

This does not raise an exception, but after this line of code, the property _device.DeviceEvents is (again) "None"...
We want to use these events to be able to bypass / customize the 'standard' twain driver messages.

Is there another way to get notified for these events?
Is it possible to disable the 'standard' dialogs?

be automatic given a special name and saved to particular path. Our office use Pronto ERP model, want
do some integrate.

If answer is yes, could you please give me some details? like methods, function,parameters, etc,
which products suit us, I will let my boss know this.

64bit Twain Driver

In order to support scanning on a 64bit computer, I have to use the 64bit version of the twain driver. Do I have to have 2 separate builds of our application? 32bit version and 64bit version?

Setting paper sizes

Hello,

I have some software which has been work with DotTwain for a while. I am now modifying it so that the scanner dialog box doesn't show. I am able to manually set things like the brightness, contrast, Black and white etc, but it is not letting em set the paper size. I have code:

Device.FrameSize = PageSize;

Where paper size is my StaticFrameSizeType. I do not get an error, but the FrameSize is always NONE. When i am showing the scanner dialog box, i am able to change the paper size. However, when i check the device's capabilities:

Result is false. So is the only way to set the paper size through the scanner dialog? Maybe i am doign somethign wrong? I am setting these values manually between Device.Open() and Device.Acquire() if that helps. Thanks.

Question about the Atalasoft.Twain.Device object

In the following code, is it necessary to call the Open method? Is it overkill to insert a dev.Open() before the acquire method is called? Also, what does the CanOpen check and does it fail if the device is already open?

Dim dev As Atalasoft.Twain.Device = Me.acquisition1.Devices.Default

dev.Acquire()

Or in C#

Atalasoft.Twain.Device dev = acquisition1.Devices.Default;

dev.Acquire();

Problem accessing HP Scanjet 7800

Hello, I'm using this code to detect available scanners in the computer. I was able to make other scanners work on this without problems. However, testing the DotTwain on a HP Scanjet 7800 is a problem. The client has already installed & re-installed the default drivers for HP. DotTwain just couldn't detect the driver properly.

Help!
