Hi all,

 

We have been having a *lot* of issues using scanning under the various flavors of Vista (only one scanner will aquire properly and that is only if you show the UI) - for the **Vast** majority of test scanners nothing happens after the aquire call - no events sent back and we sit waiting for ever...On a few scanners their proprietary soft will scan whereas ours (using DotTwain) does nothing, as well as the low level twain demo and the aquisition demos. Preview works in most cases, but scanning does not.

Has anyone managed to get any scanners working through DotTwain on Vista?

UPDATED - EDIT: upon testing using our own C++ based TWAIN harness I have had more sucess - however it transfers in memory as a DIB - perhaps there is a file transfer bug running under Vista?. If we cannot use DotTwain under Vista I will need to wrap up this C++ code for use with .Net, and our release is in mid January. I'm really really hoping for a resolution to this issue, or I'll not have much of a Christmas this year as I'll be coding (again)

Try the DotTwain update we just released.  I've been using DotTwain in Vista successfully.  I think it depends on the driver though.  What scanner are you using?  Perhaps we have something similar here we can test for you. 

DotTwain does support buffered memory transfer; I believe just by setting a property.  The AcquisitionDemo has this feature.

This has now been resolved with Bill's assistance (thanks for all the help Bill) and an update to DotTwain 2.1 for .Net 2.0

 

Scanners I have tested and confirmed working under Vista include:
 

HP scanjet 4600

Epson V350 Photo  

Canon LIDE 60, 50
