    Grayscale Tiff with JPEG compression out of scanner - Incompatible with AtalaImage

    On both the Kodak Document scanners we have at work, the images outputted when using Hardware JPEG Compression with Greyscale can't be opened with AtalaImage (4.0h). The error/exception message

    "Corrupt or Invalid Tiff"

     is returned on the constructor AtalaImage img = new AtalaImage(filepath);

    The image however opens fine in Microsoft Office Document Imaging where the properties of the image are:

    Bits Per Sample: 8,8,8

    Compression: JPEG

    ...

    Resolution: 200dpi

    Is this a known issue?

    There are all sorts TIFF's with JPEG compression that are widely considered broken formats.  Many hundreds of different ways to generate these "Old Style" Type 6 JPEG-Compressed TIFF's. We make our best effort to support as many of these as possible, and I think DotImage 5.0 was a step in that direction.  With a completely re-written TIFF Codec that adds support for additional flavors of TIFF and improved performance, I suspect that your images might open if you upgrade to the latest version.

    Thanks Bill, sounds like the whole Tiff with JPEG thing is a mess. Ah well...
